With this series of monoprints and oil ink, I think about the importance of exposing the complicated foundation of my thoughts. This series provides snapshots of what cranks the wheels in my mind.
"Hopeful," a straightforward title, shows my optimism, a thick drop purple amid the greys. "Dreamer" is what I am and imagination is savior. And I can be totally cynic. "Cynicism" is what I feel when I realize that certain ideals and intentions will never happen. "Isolated" is my way of escaping this back and forth, drifting off into another world. I imagine realities that don’t exactly exist... yet. Sometimes I live within those realities. "Hypocrite" reflects my complicated, contradicting nature. Being a hypocrite is what happens when my many selves, many desires, clash.
Each of these aspects adds layers to the foundation on which my arguments, my work, and my ideas sit.
